169: Carve my furrow

Tune: 7.7.7.5  Capetown (Three in One and One in Three)

A hymn for Plough Sunday.

Carve my furrow straight and long,

This shall be my ploughing song,

Always right and never wrong;

Sniff the fresh-turned sod.

Press your foot down to the floor,

Hear the engine squeal and roar,

See the dirt bounce off the door;

Sniff the fresh-turned sod.

Watch the blades churn through the turf,

Cutting deep into the earth,

Scare the rabbits giving birth;

Sniff the fresh-turned sod.
