To sing of resurrection Gives life to heart and voice. Yet clergy and their organists Each year run out of choice. We start on Easter morning, With more on Easter two. By then the best are all used up And others don’t ring true. After a month of Sundays The dearth begins to bite. The candle still burns witness To resurrection light. Too early for Ascension And its festal melody. So “Gen’ral Hymns" are open-ed To fill our hymnody.
