Worn by the feet of countless scholars over the centuries, these stairs that lead up to the cathedral's chained library evoke a sense of academia.  Up these steps have gone scholars of doctrine and liturgy, theologians and searchers after truth.  Choirboys have run up them, voices crying praise to the wind.  Ancient priests have ascended slowly, pausing for breath every few yards.  Lawyers and scribes, virginal nuns and elderly matrons have sought erudition and explanation in the dusty tomes and manuscripts.

The Library remains a place of theological study to this day.
