THE PONCE DE ROUEN SACRISTY

The Ponce de Rouen Sacristy lies at the administrative heart of the cathedral.  On the central table lies a corporal waiting to be pressed by the Perfection in Holy Ironing group, whilst on the shelf of the dresser behind stands one of the 11 Monstrances that are used for the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.  The open door to the right leads to the inner chamber where the vestments and linens are stored, whist the closed door next to it is the toilet.

The stained glass window was the gift of the Wenchoster  City Fathers in 1927 to mark the 500th anniversary of the granting of city status.  The Swiss cuckoo clock on the wall next to it was a gift from Pierre “Cato” Clouseau in 1967 in thanks for the welcome he received on his foreign language exchange visit.  It stopped working in 1972.
